MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) – Iryna Zhuk of Belarus improved the national record winning the Pole Vault event at the World Indoor Tour meeting in Madrid, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee.
The Belarusian cleared 4.67m at the first attempt. The previous national record, which she set as well, was one centimeter lower.
Silver went to Tina Sutej from Slovenia, with bronze collected by Canada's Alysha Newman.
Earlier, Iryna Zhuk had qualified for the Tokyo Games.
The major indoor event in the winter season will be the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Torun, Poland, on 5-7 March.
