IIHF releases 2022 medal design

MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has released the design of the 2022 IIHF World Championship medals, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation.

The winner was a medal designed by Pauli Maronen of Finland, who won the contest announced in January 2021. He decided to incorporate a theme with Tampere's new Deck Arena and a hockey player.

A total of about 70 medal proposals were received. The competition was genuinely international, with proposals coming from Finland, Estonia, the UK, New Zealand, Russia, Belarus, Canada, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Indonesia and Italy.

The 2022 IIHF World Championship will take place in two Finnish cities – Tampere and Helsinki on 13-29 May. Belarus will play in Group B against the Czech Republic, the United States, Sweden, Latvia, Norway, the UK and the hosts. Group A will feature Canada, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Slovakia, Denmark, Kazakhstan, and Italy.
