Ice hockey federations of Belarus, Uzbekistan to expand cooperation

MINSK, 19 August (BelTA) – The Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus and the Ice Hockey Federation of Uzbekistan have signed a memorandum of cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus.

The agreement is valid for five years, until the end of the 2028/29 season. The cooperation between the ice hockey federations includes the exchange of hockey training methods, seminars and conferences for coaches at various levels, interaction in the field of refereeing, as well as the organization of joint competitions and training camps.

“Despite the fact that ice hockey in Uzbekistan has only recently begun to develop, we have a great potential for development in this country,” Chairman of the Ice Hockey Federation of Belarus Aliaksandr Bahdanovich said. “Matches of local HC Khumo are attended by over 4,000 fans on average. Such attendance indicates a high interest in the sport on the part of the local population. We will be happy to help our Uzbek colleagues to develop ice hockey in their country by participating in exchange programs, inviting local coaches to come to us for internships and so on.”

Last week Tashkent hosted a preliminary stage of the international tournament Euro-Asian Friendship Cup. HC Brest took part in the event. The Belarusian team beat Arlan Kokshetau and lost to HC Khumo and AKM Tula. HC Brest placed third and failed to qualify for the Final of Four.
