MINSK, 25 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 136 Olga Govortsova lost to world number 1152 Reese Brantmeier of the United States 2-6, 3-6 at the start of the US Open qualification, BelTA has learned.
Belarus' world number 249 Yuliya Hatouka will face France's world number 240 Jessika Ponchet. Athletes need to go through three qualifying matches to reach the main draw.
Playing in the main draw will be Belarus' Aryna Sabalenka (World No.2), Victoria Azarenka (19), Aliaksandra Sasnovich (99), Ilya Ivashka (63) and Egor Gerasimov (81).
The US Open will be played from 30 August to 12 September.
