Gerasimov out of Tokyo 2020 tennis event

TOKYO, 26 July (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 79 Egor Gerasimov lost 4-6, 6-7 (4-7) to Italy's world number 31 Fabio Fognini in the 2020 Olympic Games Tennis Event men's singles round two, BelTA has learned.

The match lasted for an hour and 45 minutes. In the opener the Belarusian defeated France's world number 102 Gilles Simon. Belarus' world number 66 Ilya Ivashka will face Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin in the second round. In the opener the Belarusian beat world's number 18 Gael Monfils of France. Ilya Ivashka and Egor Gerasimov lost the doubles opener to Marcus Daniell and Michael Venus 3-6, 6-7 (6-8).

The 2020 Olympic Games Tennis Event will be over on 1 August.
