Gerasimov out of 2020 Astana Open

MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 83 Egor Gerasimov lost to U.S. world number 64 Frances Tiafoe 6-7 (5-7), 7-5, 5-7 in the 2020 Astana Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.

The match lasted for two hours and 36 minutes.

The Belarusian defeated world number 80 Lloyd Harris of South Africa 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-3) in the opener. In the round of Last 16 Egor Gerasimov battled through world number 66 Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Belarus' Andrei Vasilevski and Israel's Jonathan Erlich reached the 2020 Astana Open quarterfinal defeating the Egyptian-Kazakh tandem of Mohamed Safwat and Denis Yevseyev 6-3, 6-3 in less than an hour. They will face the Belgian duo of Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen for a spot in the semifinal.

Belarus' world number 331 Uladzimir Ignatik cruised past Greece's world number 1050 Petros Tsitsipas 6-0, 6-1 in the round of Last 16 in ITF Greece F9 Futures. The Belarusian will next play world number 630 Robin Stanek of the Czech Republic. In the opener Uladzimir Ignatik defeated Italy's world number 428 Francesco Forti 7-5, 6-4.

In the doubles quarterfinal Uladzimir Ignatik and Romania's Mircea Alexandru-Jecan lost to the Czech duo of Vaclav Safranek and Robin Stanek 7-5, 5-7, 6-10.

The tournaments in Nur-Sultan and Heraklion will finish on 1 November.
