Foreign journalists start arriving at Tokyo Media Center

MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – The first journalists began arriving at the Tokyo Olympic Games press center, BelTA learned from the press service of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus.

Located in the International Exhibition Center of the Japanese capital, the facility opened its doors on 13 July. It is expected that up to 2,500 media representatives per day will visit it. According to Japanese mass media, about 16,000 foreign journalists from 200 countries, including Belarus, will cover the Games. Their presence in Japan is governed by strict rules, spelled out by the Games' Organizing Committee. They prohibit using public transport within 14 days after entry into the country and require journalists to inform the organizers in advance of the scheduled coverage of certain events.

According to the IOC, more than 80% of Olympics participants have been vaccinated against the coronavirus. At the moment, Japan is continuing its vaccination campaign for the local population.
