MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – FC Neman Grodno will play the first leg of the UEFA Conference League playoffs against Spain’s Rayo Vallecano, BelTA has learned.
The match will take place in Szeged, Hungary, with kickoff at 9:00 pm. The game will be umpired by 37-year-old FIFA referee Arda Kardeşler from Türkiye. His assistants will be Mehmet Turgal and Deniz Caner Özaral, with Ozan Ergün as the fourth official. The second-leg match will be played in the Spanish capital on 28 August.
In last season’s Spanish LaLiga, Rayo Vallecano finished eighth. Last Friday, in their opening match of the new domestic season, the Madrid-based club secured a confident 3–1 away victory over Girona FC.
FC Neman Grodno has reached the European qualifying playoffs for the first time in its history. On their path to the playoffs, Igor Kovalevich’s squad overcame Armenia’s FC Urartu (2–1 and 4–0), Slovakia’s FC Košice (3–2 and 1–1), and the Faroe Islands’ KÍ Klaksvík (0–2 and 2–0, winning 5–4 on penalties). This season, Neman has already earned nearly €1.5 million, and should the team advance to the UEFA Conference League group stage, it will receive an additional €3 million.
