MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - Egyptian athletes are ready to compete with Belarusians at any tournament, Sharif El-Erian, Vice President of the International Federation of Modern Pentathlon (UIPM), said during a meeting with Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk in Minsk on 12 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Sport and Tourism Ministry.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of Belarusian-Egyptian cooperation in sport as Sharif El Erian is also the Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Egypt. Special emphasis was placed on the exchange of experience in modern pentathlon.
“Egyptian athletes are ready to take part and compete with Belarusian and Russian athletes at any international competitions, including the BRICS Games and others. The main task of sport is to unite all countries and peoples. And we should demonstrate these values by our example,” Sharif El Erian said.
