MINSK, 21 May (BelTA) - Dmitry Lukashenko was reelected chairman of the Central Council of the Presidential Sports Club at a general meeting of the organization held at the National Olympic Committee in Minsk on 21 May, BelTA has learned.

The general meeting took stock of the club's activities over the past five years and outlined guidelines for the coming years. The general meeting also elected the new Central Council. For the first time it includes Chairman of the Belarusian Tennis Federation Sergei Rutenko and Chairman of the Belarusian Wrestling Federation Alim Selimov.
Dmitry Lukashenko noted that the club will continue to take an active part in organizing sports and mass events in Belarus that develop Belarusian sport and fitness movement.

"The current elite of Belarusian sport is mostly made of the athletes who were part of the Presidential Sports Club scholarship project. We significantly reduced the loss of promising athletes and coaches as they transition to adult sport and provided important support to help them reach the highest level. Since the launch of the project, the scholarships have been also awarded to both Olympic athletes and disabled sportsmen," said the head of the Presidential Sports Club.

Over the past five years, the club has implemented a number of comprehensive programs aimed at improving the infrastructure of sports institutions and improving the training process of young athletes.
