Degtyarev: Belarus, Russia are gearing up for spartakiad 2025

MINSK, 20 September (BelTA) – Russia’s Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev summed up the results of the joint meeting of the boards of the ministries of sport of Belarus and Russia which took place at the NOC headquarters in Minsk on 20 September, BelTA learned.
“We discussed in detail the issues regarding the spartakiad of the strongest athletes of Belarus and Russia in winter and summer sports in 2025. Our sports federations are working together on this event. The preparation is going full-speed on from Smolensk Oblast to Krasnoyarsk Territory. We are looking forward to welcome athletes from Belarus and other countries. We decided to make the event open. No discrimination. The recent BRICS Games showed that there is a great interest in this format,” Mikhail Degtyarev emphasized. “The day before, I visited Minsk's sports facilities and was impressed. The local infrastructure is of very high quality and meets all world standards. This year there are over 400 competitions on the Russian-Belarusian sports calendar. Our athletes like to compete with the Belarusians who put up high competition”.
“The number of joint tournaments is growing exponentially every year. Nevertheless, cooperation in some sports should be stepped up, especially in summer sports. The main thing for us is for Belarusian and Russian athletes of all ages to have practice and to have all their rights ensured,” Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk added.
