CIS Festival of School Sports kicks off in Russia's Ufa

MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – The CIS International Festival of School Sports will take place in Ufa, the Russian Federation on 14-19 November, BelTA learned from the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.

The festival has been traditionally held since 2013. The event is for boys and girls of 13-15 years old as part of school teams from the CIS countries, CIS diasporas residing in the Russian Federation, as well as the Russian national team of school sports clubs.

“The CIS festival is one of the most significant events of the Children's Sports federal project. School students, coming to the competitions, make new friends, and also learn about the culture of other countries, get familiar with the traditions and everyday life of Russian people and, most importantly, help us, adults, to speak the same language and strengthen our friendly relations,” project coordinator Irina Rodnina said.

More than 450 students from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Moldova, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan take part in the festival every year.

The event is organized by the Ministry of Sports of Russia, the Russian School Sports Federation with the support of the Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan and the CIS Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation.

In 2022 the festival will be take place in Ufa on 14-19 November. Athletes will compete in six sports, and will also have a diverse cultural and entertainment program.

The Center for Sports Training of the Republic of Bashkortostan named after R.A. Batalova in Ufa will host a solemn opening ceremony of the festival on 15 November.
