Belarusian wrestler Alina Shauchuk claims European champion title

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – Alina Shauchuk of Belarus won gold in the 68kg weight category at the ongoing 2025 European Wrestling Championships in Bratislava, Slovakia, BelTA has learned.

On the way to the podium the Belarusian wrestler defeated Albina Drazhi of Albania, Türkiye’s Buse Tosun, and Ukraine’s Manola Skobelska. In the final Alina Shauchuk faced Romania’s Kateryna Zelenykh to secure a 2-1 victory. Alina Shauchuk is a reigning U23 European champion and a two-time medalist of the World Junior Wrestling Championships.

On Thursday Belarus’ Viyaleta Rebikava reached the 53kg bronze-medal stage. Earlier, the Belarusian wrestler beat Moldova’s Iulia Leorda but lost to Maria Prevolaraki of Greece in the quarterfinal. Viyaleta Rebikava will face Türkiye’s Zeynep Yetgil on Friday.

Aryna Martynava of Belarus (57kg) also keeps her medal chances alive. She lost in her opening bout to Olga Khoroshavtseva of Russia but got a chance for repechage after the Russian athlete entered the final. On Friday Aryna Martynava will face Evelina Hulthen of Sweden for a spot in the bronze-medal bout. Veranika Ivanova (62kg), Krystsina Sazykina (65kg) and Viktoryia Radzkova (72kg) completed their campaign in Slovakia.
