MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The Belarusian Tennis Federation has filed an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne seeking to restore the rights of Belarusian athletes, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Tennis Federation.
According to the statement, the Belarusian Tennis Federation continues to work at all levels in order to defend the interests of Belarusian athletes. The Belarusian Tennis Federation plans to appeal against the decision of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) to suspend the membership of the Belarusian Tennis Federation in the ITF, as well as the ban of the Belarusian teams from participating in major team tournaments.
The International Tennis Federation officially suspended the membership of the Belarusian Tennis Federation in the organization on 6 May. Nevertheless. Belarusian athletes can play at the tournaments of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) and the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) in neutral status in all countries except the UK.
