Belarusian Swimming Championships kick off in Brest

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Swimming Championships are underway in Brest through 9 April inclusively, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Swimming Federation.

Taking part in the event are about 300 athletes, including members of the Belarusian national team. Each swimmer has the right to participate in an unlimited number of individual events and relay races. On the first day Alina Zmushka beat the national record, clocking 30.43 seconds in the women's 50m breaststroke semifinal, having updated her own record set three years ago. The athlete touched in first in the final heat.

On 5 April, the Belarusian Swimming Championships winners also included Anastasiya Shkurdai (200m backstroke), Aksana Balshakova (400m medley), Margarita Poleshuk (200m butterfly), Alesia Akinchyts (800m freestyle), Ilya Shimanovich (200m breaststroke), Kanstantsin Kurachkin (400m freestyle), Hryhory Pekarski (50m butterfly). The Minsk team comprising Ilya Shymanovich, Viktor Staselovich, Anastasiya Kuliashova and Anastasiya Koryakovskaya won the 4x100m mixed relay.
