Belarusian swimmer Alina Zmushka qualifies for 2020 Tokyo Olympics

MINSK, 8 April (BelTA) - Belarusian swimmer Alina Zmushka has set two new Belarusian records at the Russian Open Swimming Championships in Kazan and secured a berth for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Swimming Federation.

In the 200m breaststroke semifinal in Kazan the Belarusian swimmer finished second in 2:24.33. She renewed her own national record (2:25.93) and qualified for the Olympics Games (the eligibility standard is 2:25.52).

Alina Zmushka set a new Belarus record in the 100m breaststroke in the preliminary heat and showed the best time on the course – 1:07.37. In the final the Belarusian swimmer placed sixth, with the time of 1:07.47.

The Russian Open Swimming Championships is taking place in the 50m pool of the Aquatics Center in Kazan on 3-9 April.
