Belarusian shot-putter Aliona Dubitskaya claims silver in Poland

MINSK, 7 (BelTA) - Belarusian shot-putter Aliona Dubitskaya won silver at the Orlen Copernicus Cup in Torun, Poland, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian produced a throw of 18m91cm, six centimeters behind gold medalist Christina Schwanitz of Germany (18m97cm). Bronze went to Jessica Ramsey of the United States (18m73cm). Two-time European champion Anita Marton of Hungary placed seventh in Torun (18m03cm).

Elsewhere, in Brno, the Czech Republic, Belarus' Karina Taranda placed second in the women's high jump event (1m94cm). In Tartu, Estonia Aleksei Nichipor was first with 18.95cm in the men's shop put event, while Stanislav Dorogokupets won in the 60m event in 6.83 seconds.

The 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow are scheduled for 1-3 March.
