Belarusian, Russian Athletes Commissions to meet in Minsk

MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – The Athletes Commissions of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus and the Russian Olympic Committee are set to meet in Minsk in late April, BelTA learned from the press service of the NOC of Belarus.

The parties are currently working out proposals to expand cooperation in the main areas of the Olympic agenda and are discussing joint projects in anti-doping as well as children's and youth sport.

Russia will also issue an official invitation to the NOC of Belarus for the Forum of Young Olympians, which is due to take place in Moscow on 1 June, the International Children's Day. Heads of the Olympic committees of the two countries, Viktor Lukashenko and Stanislav Pozdnyakov, are expected to take part in the events.

“Belarus and Russia have recently done a lot to ensure that the athletes of the two countries have an eventful sport calendar. At the Athletes Forum in Minsk, we will continue to work on the joint training and competition program. I am confident that representatives of the Athletes Commissions of Belarus and Russia will make their recommendations to expand cooperation in sports and the Olympic movement of the two countries,” said Viktor Lukashenko, President of the NOC of Belarus.
