Belarusian pentathletes win two medals at tournament in Minsk

MINSK, 10 May (BelTA) – The first leg of the modern pentathlon tournament Pavel Lednev Cup took place in Minsk with the participation of athletes from Belarus and Russia, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Modern Pentathlon Federation.

Volha Silkina of Belarus scored 1,438 points to claim gold. Silver and bronze medals went to Gulnaz Gubaydullina and Yana Solovyeva of Russia (1,431 and 1,415 points respectively).

Ilya Palazkov from Belarus won silver with a total of 1,529 points. Gold went to Aleksandr Lifanov of Russia (1,533 points). Russia's Piotr Borshchev took bronze.

The second leg of the Pavel Lednev Cup will take place in Moscow on 24-29 May. The event will feature athletes from Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and China.
