Belarusian Fencing Championship underway in Minsk

MINSK, 21 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Fencing Championship kicked off at Chizhovka Arena in Minsk on 20 October, BelTA has learned.

The victory in the men's event was claimed by Kirill Kasyannik from Minsk Oblast. Silver went to Denis Pavlovsky from Mogilev Oblast. Bronze medals were clinched by Vladislav Pechinsky from Grodno Oblast and Artyom Chertovich from Brest Oblast.

The women's event was won by Yekaterina Porshneva from Gomel Oblast. Silver went to Aleksandra Tsarskaya from Minsk. Gomel's Olga Silkina and Kseniya Tomashevskaya from Minsk Oblast took bronze medals.

On 21 October the competition program will feature men's and women's team events.

The Belarusian Open Fencing Championship will last through 25 October. For Belarusian athletes this is the first competition after a long break due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament features some 250 athletes from Belarus, Russia and South Africa. The tournament includes 12 medal events.

The Belarusian Open Fencing Championship is organized by the Sport and Tourism Ministry, the Belarusian Fencing Federation, and the National Olympic Training Center Staiki.
