MINSK, 19 July (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation has left for the 18th European Youth Olympic Festival, which will take place in Skopje, the capital city of North Macedonia, the press service of Belarus’ National Olympic Committee told BelTA.
During the multisport forum Belarus will be represented by 46 young athletes (20 boys and 26 girls), who will compete in seven sport disciplines: road cycling, bicycle motocross, judo, shooting, table tennis, taekwondo, and swimming.
The Belarusian team includes champions, prizewinners, and record-holders of Belarus in their own age categories. The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) opening ceremony will take place on 20 July. Competitions will take place on 21-26 July. The festival is expected to gather a total of about 1,700 athletes aged 14-18 from 49 countries.
The European Youth Olympic Festival is an important stage in preparation for future major competitions. Participation in the tournament allows young athletes to gain valuable experience in international competitions, learn about the culture of other countries, and make friends among their peers.
