Belarusian cycling Tatiana Sharakova sets new national record in Colombia

MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – Belarusian cycling Tatiana Sharakova has set a new record of Belarus in the Individual Pursuit, part of the Omnium program, at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali, Colombia, BelTA informs.

The Belarusian covered the distance in 3:33.984, improving her previous record set at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships in France by 1.5 seconds. In the Individual Pursuit the Belarusian outpaced Sara Hammer of the United States (3:36.311) and UK's Laura Trott (3:36.371).

Tatiana Sharakova also finished second in the Elimination Race which was won by Laura Trott. The Belarusian was 15th in the Scratch and 8th in the Flying Lap. The Omnium overall standings was topped by Laura Trott with 213 points. The British cyclist was followed by Laurie Berthon of France with 160 points and Sara Hammer of the United States with 153 points. Tatiana Sharakova ranked fifth with 144 points.

Belarusian cyclists Yekaterina Pyatrovskaya, Polina Pivovarova, Inna Savenko and Marina Shmayenkova finished 15th in the Team Pursuit in Colombia.

Roman Tishkov of Belarus was 13th in the Omnium program (15th in the Scratch, 7th in the Individual Pursuit, 6th in the Elimination Race, 13th in the Flying Lap).

The second leg of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup is due in New Zealand on 5-6 December.
