Belarus win three medals at XVIII World Cup of Petroleum Countries

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Belarusian boxers have won three bronze medals at XVIII World Cup of Petroleum Countries which is underway in Nizhnevartovsk, Russia, BelTA has learned.

Dzianis Salotskikh (51kg), Artur Tuniyev (60kg), and Dzmitry Deshkevich (63.5kg) all reached the semifinals to claim bronze medals.

Dzianis Salotskikh kicked off his run in the quarterfinal and defeated an athlete from Kyrgyzstan 5-0. He lost to Russia's Evgeny Martynov in the next bout.

Artur Tuniyev beat Russia's Danir Shubkhankulov but lost to Russia's Arsen Gadzhiyev in the semifinal.

Dzmitry Deshkevich defeated Anton Artemenko in the quarterfinal and then beat Mirzokhid Imamnazarov of Kyrgyzstan. In the bout against Kagir Minatuliyev the Belarusian withdrew in the second round on the doctor's advice.

Taking part in the competitions are more than 150 athletes from 16 countries: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Moldova, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Cyprus, Zimbabwe, Mongolia, Poland, Chile, Estonia and Russia.

The competitions feature 13 weight categories among men and six weight categories among women. The finals will take place on 11 December.
