Belarus win 13 medals at Russian Open Rowing Championships

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes won 13 medals at the Russian Open Rowing Championships in Kazan, BelTA has learned.

Belarus clinched five gold medals. They were taken by Filipp Paukov (single sculls), Siarhei Valadzko and Dzmitry Furman (men's pair), Yauheni Zalaty and Mikalai Sharlap (double sculls), Aliaksei Bandziuk, Anton Kupalau, Dzianis Klimiato, Aliaksandr Yaskel (four). On the final day of the competitions the Belarusian men's eight-oars with coxswain finished first.

In the team total Belarus scored 1,053 points to place ahead of all its opponents. Second was Moscow (590.6 points). St. Petersburg was third (508). A total of 27 teams took part in the event.
