MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) - The CIS Council for Physical Education and Sport has chosen Belarus as host of the Second CIS Games in 2023, BelTA learned from the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
Azerbaijan will host the third edition of the CIS Games in 2025.
Attending the Council online meeting were representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee. They discussed cooperation in sport within the CIS, including the organization of the CIS championships and cups in individual sports. At the moment there is a practice of holding sports competitions in the CIS countries under the auspices of the Commonwealth of Independent States, but there is no unified order of granting the right to hold such competitions, requirements for their organizers and conditions. The meeting participants decided to instruct the working group on preparation and organization of the CIS Games to develop a draft regulation on the CIS championships (cups) in various sports by 1 June 2022.
The meeting participants also approved the work plan for the next year for the CIS Council for Physical Education and Sports of the Parties to the Agreement on Cooperation in Physical Culture and Sport and heard out the information about the preparation for the next meeting of the Council, which is due in Tashkent in 2022.
