
MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes are competing in the international track cycling event Silk Way Namangan in Uzbekistan, BelTA has learned.
The event is featuring over 140 cyclists from ten countries. The competition program includes all Olympics disciplines (team sprint, pursuit, sprint, keirin, Madison and omnium) as well as all disciplines of the world and European championships (scratch, points race, and elimination race). Belarus completed a remarkable clean sweep of the omnium podium, with Hanna Tserakh, Polina Konrad and Iryna Chuyankova placing first, second and third respectively.
Polina Konrad also won gold in the points race, with Iryna Chuyankova placing third. Kseniya Shynkarenka finished fourth in the event. Artsiom Zaitsau came in first in the sprint. Yauheni Karaliok as part of Kyrgyzstan’s Top Velo – Art Cycling Team clinched silver in the team sprint and finished fourth in the omnium. The competitions in Namangan will be over on 10 May.
