MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) - The Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus approved the list of members of the sport delegation for the 32nd Olympic Games in Tokyo, BelTA learned from the press service of the organization.
As of today, 96 Belarusian athletes in 21 sports have qualified for the Olympic Games in Japan's capital city. The qualification for the Olympic Games in individual sports is still underway. Belarusians have a chance to qualify for Tokyo 2020 in beach volleyball, athletics and diving. The final number of Olympic berths will be known on 30 June 2021. A preliminary list of athletes who have won the right to compete at the Summer Olympic Games in Japan is available on the official website of the NOC of Belarus.
The Executive Committee also considered issues related to the preparation for the Winter Games in Beijing in 2022. Vice President of the NOC Dzmitry Dauhalionak has been approved as Belarus' Chef de Mission for the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games. He has previously led sports delegations to the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, the 2015 Baku 1st European Games, the 2018 Buenos Aires 3rd Summer Youth Olympic Games, the European Youth Olympic Summer Festivals in Utrecht (2013, Netherlands), Gyorr (2017, Hungary), Baku (2019, Azerbaijan) and many other sports events. He is also Chef de Mission for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.
