Belarus-Russia interregional cooperation seen as key to Union State successful development 

GOMEL, 22 May (BelTA) - The stronger the interregional cooperation is, the more successful the Union State will be, Governor of Gomel Oblast Ivan Krupko told the media after a meeting with a delegation of Russia's Magadan Region headed by Governor Sergey Nosov in Gomel on 22 May, BelTA has learned.

Ivan Krupko called interregional cooperation the key to effective work and further development of the Union State of Belarus and Russia. "This work should go in all directions. The stronger the interregional cooperation is, the more successful the Union State will be," the head of the region is sure. 

"Magadan Oblast is located 11,000km away from Gomel Oblast. In many respects logistics is crucial to developing effective cooperation between the regions. This is the most important issue," Ivan Krupko said. 

The parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in terms of the supply of food products, in agriculture, humanitarian ties, tourism and other areas. 

The working group on cooperation between Belarus and Magadan Oblast of Russia held a meeting in Gomel. Belarusian Minister of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Aleksei Bogdanov noted: "Interregional cooperation takes center stage, following the head of state’s instruction. It is on this foundation that our cooperation with the Russian Federation relies as a whole. Active work between Magadan Oblast and Gomel Oblast is a vivid example of a successful approach to interregional cooperation."

The minister noted that Gomel Oblast is home to a lot of enterprises. "They work in different industries. Regular meetings between the governors set the tone for business and enterprises that find new points of growth and discover new opportunities for mutual work," he concluded.
