MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) - Successes of Belarusian athletes are impossible without sports science and sports medicine, President of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Belarus Viktor Lukashenko said at the opening of the international conference “Sport. Medicine. Science” at the Belarus’ NOC headquarters on 10 October. The event marked the 10th anniversary of the Belarusian National Scientific and Practical Center of Sports, BelTA has learned.
“The success of our athletes largely relies on sports science and sports medicine. The National Scientific and Practical Center of Sports provides great support to athletes and sports in general,” Viktor Lukashenko said.
The NOC president thanked the head of the center and its personnel. “Thanks to your commitment this work proceeds successfully,” he said.
Viktor Lukashenko added that sports medicine is much older: “Its development in the country began more than 50 years ago. However, ten years ago, on 1 October, the decision was made to unite sports medicine and sports science in one center,” he said.
According to the NOC president, the center boasts cutting-edge equipment, highly-qualified staff, advanced technology. The center carries out scientific research. All this is applied for the benefit of Belarus.
The Belarusian National Scientific and Practical Center of Sports is known not only in Belarus, but also beyond its borders, in particular in Russia, China, and the CIS countries. Today's conference vividly testifies to the fact, the NOC president added.
