MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Moscow is hosting the Pavel Lednev Cup pentathlon final featuring the best athletes of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
Ten Belarusian and 26 Russian athletes won spots in the men's final following three stages. Ilya Palazkov of Belarus clinched bronze finishing second in swimming, fourth in fencing, fifth in cross-country running and showing the best result in equestrian show jumping. The Belarusian scored a total of 1,477 points to place third. Gold and silver went to Russian athletes Kirill Manuilo (1,485) and Egor Gromadsky (1,480 points). Kirill Kasyanik of Belarus finished 6th.
The Pavel Lednev Cup women's final is due to take place on 3 August. Belarus will field world champions Anastasiya Prokopenko (2018, 2021) and Volha Silkina (2019).
