Belarus’ Ilya Ivashka reaches Hersonissos Challenger second round

MINSK, 12 August (BelTA) – Ilya Ivashka of Belarus has reached the Hersonissos Challenger 3 second round in Greece, BelTA has learned.

In the Round of 32, the Belarusian, ranked 819th in the world, faced World No.351 Christian Langmo of the USA and secured a hard-fought three-set victory, 6-3, 1-6, 7-6 (8-6), in 3 hours and 12 minutes. In the Round of 16, Ilya Ivashka will take on world number 507 Harry Wendelken of the UK.

Ilya Ivashka earned his spot in the main draw through qualifying, defeating Greece’s Christos Antonopoulos (1,986) 6-4, 6-1 and Israel’s Amit Vales (873) 3-6, 6-1, 6-0.

In the first round of W15 Astana 2025, Belarus’ world number 776 Anna Kubareva dominated Uzbekistan’s Diana Yakovleva (1,419) with a 6-2, 6-0 win. She will next face Russia’s Ustinya Lekmintseva (1,102) in the Round of 16. Meanwhile, Belarus’ Daria Khomutianskaya fell to Russia’s Ekaterina Khayrutdinova (932) in straight sets, 1-6, 4-6.

The tournament is Greece will be over on 16 August, the event in Kazakhstan will complete on 17 August.
