Belarus' Hanna Sola takes Women 7.5km Sprint gold in Austria

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Hanna Sola of Belarus won the Women 7.5km Sprint at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 3 in Hochfilzen, Austria on 10 December, BelTA has learned.

Hanna Sola started 17th, shot clean and clocked 20:44.4 to win the event. This is the first winning performance in World Cup events for the 25-year-old Belarusian. At the start of the current season Hanna Sola claimed the sprint bronze in Oestersund, Sweden.

Second in the Women 7.5km Sprint in Austria was France's Justine Braisaz-Bouchet, 46.2 seconds back, two penalties. Bronze went to Norway's Marte Olsbu Roeiseland, 50.3 seconds back, shooting clean.

As for the other Belarusians, Dzinara Alimbekava was 8th, 1:08.0 back, one penalty; Iryna Leshchanka – 44th, 2:21.3 back, three penalties, Elena Kruchinkina – 85th, 3:27.8 back, four penalties, Irina Kruchinkina – 95th, 3:48.9 back, five penalties.

Anton Smolski of Belarus clinched bronze in the Men 10km Sprint on 10 December.

Belarusian biathletes won two medals in Oestersund, Sweden. Hanna Sola took Women 7.5km Sprint bronze, and the women's team of Iryna Leshchanka, Dzinara Alimbekava, Elena Kruchinkina and Hanna Sola won the relay silver. Dzinara Alimbekava was fourth in the individual and sprint events.
