Belarus gearing up to face Faroe Islands in UEFA Women's EURO qualification

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – The Belarusian national football team are getting ready for the UEFA Women's EURO qualifying match against the Faroe Islands, BelTA has learned.

After the training camp in Minsk the Belarusian football players will travel to Torshavn to face the Faroe Islands on 22 September. In the first leg Belarus routed the Faroe Islands 6-0 in Borisov. Yuri Maleyev's team also suffered two defeats: 1-7 to Norway and 0-1 to Wales.

The Group C standings are as follows: Norway – 12 points, Wales – 8, Belarus – 3, Northern Ireland – 2, the Faroe Islands – 0.

The winners of the qualification groups as well as three best runners-up will progress to the final stage. The other six runners-up will compete for three more berths.

The final was initially scheduled for summer 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic it has been moved to 2022. It is planned that the UEFA Women's EURO will take place in England on 6-31 July 2022. Belarus has never reached the final stage before.
