Belarus' Eduard Ziaziulin 4th at 2021 European Weightlifting Championships

MINSK, 12 April (BelTA) – Eduard Ziaziulin of Belarus placed fourth in the men's 109kg category at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian scored 197kg in the snatch and 227 kg in the clean and jerk to combine a total of 424 kg. Gold went to Georgia's Lasha Talakhadze combining a total of 485 kg (222kg + 263 kg). Second was Armenia's Gor Minasyan – 464 kg (216 kg + 248 kg). Third was Armenia's Varazdat Lalayan – 445 kg (205 kg + 240 kg).

Andrei Aramnau of Belarus scored a total of 375 kg (170 kg + 205 kg).

In the women's +87 kg category Yekaterina Andreikovets placed ninth with a total of 203 kg (89 kg +114 kg). Gold went to Emily Campbell of the UK – 276 kg (122 kg + 154 kg). Silver was collected by Ukraine's Anastasiia Lysenko – 252 kg (116 kg + 136 kg). Bronze was taken by Turkey's Melike Gunal – 243 kg (108 kg + 135 kg).

The Belarusian athletes won five medals at the 2021 European Weightlifting Championships in Moscow: two silver medals in the combine and the snatch by Petr Asayonak (96 kg), two bronze medals in the snatch by Henadz Laptseu (61 kg) and Siarhei Sharankou (102 kg), and the bronze medal in the clean and jerk by Darya Naumava (76 kg).

Ukraine topped the medal table with 10 gold, three silver and four bronze medals. Second was Bulgaria (8, 8, 3). Third was Georgia (8, 4, 1).
