
MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – Belarusian athletes won eight medals at the Russian athletics competitions Alekseyev Memorial in St. Petersburg, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sport and Tourism Ministry.
The Belarusian team claimed two gold, four silver and two bronze medals. Aliona Dubitskaya showed the best personal result of 17.84m to secure gold in the women’s shot put. Elvira Hrabarenka finished first in the women’s 60m hurdles. Silver medals were collected by Vitali Parakhonka (men’s 60m hurdles), Maksim Hrabarenka (men’s 60m), Viachaslau Skudny (men’s mile short track), and Yauheni Bryhi (men’s shot put). Bronze medals were secured by Yanina Lutsenka (women’s 60m) and Alena Trus (women’s shot put).
Last week Belarusian athletes took part in the Russian throwing event in Sochi. Tatsiana Khaladovich won the women’s javelin event, Aliaksei Katkavets placed second in the men’s javelin event.
