Belarus-China youth football friendly match to open National Football Stadium

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – Football players of Belarus’ and China’s youth national teams will have a friendly match in Minsk on 7 June, BelTA has learned.

They will be the first to play in the field of the new National Football Stadium, which will be opened in Minsk today. The game will begin at 19:00 and will be broadcast live by the TV channel Belarus Five. Before this game the Belarusian youth team beat Azerbaijan’s team 3-1 in the city of Baranovichi.

For the team coached by Vitali Paulau, the test games on the home turf represent a stage in preparations for the qualifying tournament of the European youth football championship. In qualifying group 9, Belarus will face Austria, Belgium, Denmark, and Wales. Nine winners of the qualifying groups as well as the best team from among the runners-up will earn tickets straight to the final stage of the European youth football championship. The other eight teams that finish second will compete in play-offs in November 2026 for the four remaining spots. The final stage of the European youth football championship will take place in early summer 2027 at football stadiums in Serbia and Albania, whose teams are exempt from qualifying.
