Belarus attends international sports forum in Russia

MINSK, 8 September (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation is taking part in the international sports forum "Russia is a Country of Sports" that has kicked off in Kazan, BelTA learned from the press service of the NOC of Belarus.

On the first day of the forum, President of the Belarusian NOC Viktor Lukashenko, Belarusian Sport and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk, Secretary General of the Belarusian NOC Polina Golovina participated in the plenary session "Sport-2030. The Path Towards Sustainable Development".

The Belarusian delegation met with representatives of the Russian government, heads of a number of international sports federations to discuss the prospects for the development of cooperation in sport and physical education between the two countries, and also ways of promoting the interaction with international sports federations. The Belarusian delegation also held negotiations with head of the International Handball Federation Hassan Moustafa, during which the parties confirmed their commitment to expand cooperation in this sport.

The organizers of the forum, which is running in Kazan from 8 to 10 September, are the Sports Ministry of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan. The previous editions of the forum has been held in Moscow, Saransk, Yakutsk, Cheboksary, Dobrograd (Vladimir Oblast), Ulyanovsk and Nizhny Novgorod.
