Belarus' Anton Smolski claims Men 10km Sprint bronze in Austria

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Anton Smolski of Belarus won the Men 10km Sprint at the BMW IBU World Cup Biathlon 3 in Hochfilzen, Austria, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian shot clean to finish 20.5 seconds behind the winner, Johannes Kuehn from Germany.

The German athlete clocked 26:05.0 to win the event with one penalty. Second was Sweden's Martin Ponsiluoma, 14.3 seconds back, one penalty.

As for other Belarusians, Dzmitry Lazouski shot clean to place ninth, 40.4 seconds back. Raman Yaliotnau finished 19th, 55.8 seconds back, one penalty. Sergei Bocharnikov was 52nd, 1:42.5 back, one penalty. Maksim Varabei crossed the finish line 91st, 2:53.9 back, four penalties. Competing in the Men 10km Sprint were 117 athletes.

The pursuit race in scheduled for 11 December. The relay race will take place on 12 December.
