Belarus’ Alina Zmushka wins bronze medal at world swimming championships in Singapore

MINSK, 1 August (BelTA) – The Belarusian swimmer Alina Zmushka came in third during the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, BelTA has learned.

Alina Zmushka won a medal during the Women 200 Breaststroke event. She came in fifth after the semifinal stage. In the finals held on 1 August Alina Zmushka swam along the second lane. After the first half of the race the Belarusian was fifth, but then she picked up speed and ended up finishing third, sharing the bronze medal with Kaylene Corbett from South Africa. Both swimmers finished the race in 2 minutes 23.52 seconds. The USA’s Kate Douglass was the world champion in this event, with a tournament record of 2:18.50 while Russia’s Evgeniia Chikunova won the silver medal.

Earlier in Singapore Alina Zmushka came in seventh in the Women 100 Breaststroke event. On 2 August the Belarusian will compete in the qualifying round for a distance half as long. On Friday Belarus’ Anastasiya Shkurdai advanced to Saturday’s final in the 200-meter backstroke event while another Belarusian swimmer Anastasiya Kuliashova finished her performance in the 50-meter butterfly event in the preliminary stage. 

The 2025 World Aquatics Championships will end on 3 August.
