MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Belarusian shot putter Aleh Tamashevich secured a victory at the 2025 Russian Athletics Cup, which is underway in Zhukovsky near Moscow, BelTA has learned.
The event also featured 13 Russian athletes. In his six attempts Aleh Tamashevich sent his shot behind the 20m mark four times. Aleh Tamashevich claimed gold with his best attempt of 20.91m, almost two meters ahead of second-placed Semyon Borodaev from Russia’s Stavropol Territory.
Earlier this season, Aleh Tamashevich won the Russian Winter international tournament, the Russian Indoor Championship, the final stage of the Snow Queen series, the all-Russian shot put competitions in Moscow and Sochi, the National Universiade and the Russian Team Championship. He was also a medalist of the Znamensky Brothers Memorial.
The pole vault event featuring Matvei Volkov of Belarus has been posponed to 21 June due to rain. Tomorrow, Belarus’ Anastasiya Maslova will compete for a hammer throw medal. Performing on Sunday will be Aliona Dubitskaya (shot put), Yauheni Bahutski (discus throw), Artem Kalachev (800m), Dzmitry Ivanenka, Aleksandr Shustik and Tatsiana Shabanava (all — 3000m Hurdles).
