MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – The Minsk open beach volleyball tournament timed to Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus was held at Zaslavl Water Reservoir, BelTA learned from the press service of VC Minsk.
The tournament sought to promote this Olympic sport, improve skills of participants, encourage people to live a healthy lifestyle, and build contacts between representatives of different regions. The participants of the tournament were also offered a sports and entertainment program, there were also activities for children.
Both professionals and amateurs took part in the tournament, each team included two athletes. The Gomel duo Dmitry Mayorenko - Vladimir Galota won the men's category, Svetlana Shimanovich and Svetlana Kulgavenya from Minsk ranked highest among women, Vyacheslav Pokhilko and Vitaly Dydyshko excelled in the 40+ age category among men.
The winners and runners-up received medals and gifts from the organizers - the volleyball club Minsk and the Belarus Volleyball Federation.
