MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 20 Victoria Azarenka has advanced to the Mubadala Citi DC Open quarterfinal after beating world number 73 Wang Yafan of China, 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3, BelTA has learned.
Victoria Azarenka will next face world number 3 Aryna Sabalenka, who saw off Russia’s world number 105 Kamilla Rakhimova, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, in the second round. Victoria Azarenka edged out world number 97 Hailey Baptiste of the United States, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3) in the round of Last 32.
The Mubadala Citi DC Open will be over on 4 August. The winner will earn $142,000 and 500 points. Last year the tournament was won by Coco Gauff of the United States.
