MINSK, 5 January (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 23 Victoria Azarenka edged world number 12 Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia in a 2-hour and 30-minute battle, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5, to make her fifth Brisbane International semifinal, BelTA has learned.
Earlier, Victoria Azarenka defeated world number 80 Anna Kalinskaya of Russia, 6-1, 7-6 (10-8), and France's world number 56 Clara Burel, 7-5, 6-2.
Victoria Azarenka will next play either Belarus’ world number 2 Aryna Sabalenka or Russia’s world number 18 Daria Kasatkina.
Belarus’ world number 278 Egor Gerasimov will face world number 322 Thai-Son Kwiatkowski of the United States in the Challenger Oeiras quarterfinals.
