MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 32 Victoria Azarenka went off to a good start in the Miami Open seeing off world number 55 Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine, 6-3, 6-1 in the opener, BelTA has learned.
The match lasted for an hour and three minutes. Victoria Azarenka will next face World No.14 Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic. Victoria Azarenka won the event in Miami in 2009, 2011, and 2016.
Belarus’ world number one Aryna Sabalenka will take on world number 64 Viktoriya Tomova of Bulgaria at the start of the Miami Open. If Aryna Sabalenka succeeded against Viktoriya Tomova, she will next play either Poland’s world number 27 Magdalena Fręch or Romania’s world number 102 Elena-Gabriela Ruse.
The total prize money in the 2025 Miami Open, which is to be over on 30 March, is $8.9 million. The winner will earn $1.2 million and 1,000 points.
