MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 20 Aryna Sabalenka raised the 2018 Wuhan Open trophy after defeating Estonia's world number 27 Anett Kontaveit 6-3, 6-3 in the final on 29 September, BelTA informs.
On the way to the final Aryna Sabalenka beat Spain's world number 22 Carla Suarez Navarro 7-6, 2-6, 6-2, World No.6 Elina Svitolina of Ukraine 6-4, 2-6, 6-1, U.S. world number 62 Sofia Kenin 6-3, 6-3, Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova, the world number 31, 7-5, 6-3, and Australia's world number 17 Ashleigh Barty 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
It is the second WTA champion title for the 20-year-old Belarusian. Aryna Sabalenka won her maiden title in New Haven, the United States in September 2018.
