MINSK, 4 March (BelTA) – Indian Wells three-time winner, former world number one Victoria Azarenka of Belarus, currently ranked 35, will open her 2025 Indian Wells campaign against one of the qualifying winners, BelTA has learned.
Victoria Azarenka was the event in 2009, 2011, 2016. Current world number one Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will kick off her run from round two. In 2023 Aryna Sabalenka reached the Indian Wells final where she lost to Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina.
The previous edition was won by Iga Swiatek of Poland. This year’s edition will start on 5 March and will finish on 16 March. The winner will earn $1.2 million and 1,000 points.
