MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Belarus’ world number 21 Victoria Azarenka lost 3-6, 6-3, 5-7, to Russia’s world number 38 Mirra Andreeva in the Roland Garros second round, BelTA has learned.
The Russian will next play world number 62 Peyton Stearns of the United States. In the opener Victoria Azarenka saw off Argentina’s world number 59 Nadia Podoroska, 6-1, 6-0.
Earlier, Belarus’ world number two Aryna Sabalenka powered into the third round of Roland Garros with a 6-2, 6-2 defeat of Japan’s world number 83 Moyuka Uchijima. The Belarusian will next take on Spain’s world number 139 Paula Badosa.
