MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) - It was a fight for the first place, but Canada used two first-period goals to build momentum and defeated Belarus 5-2 to finish first in Group A and earn a quarterfinal date with the Czech Republic, BelTA has learned.
Belarus finished in third place and will play Russia, second-place finisher from Group B.
Shane Wright (twice), Olen Zellweger, Mason McTavish (twice) scored for the winning side.
Andrei Loshko and Ilya Morozov scored for Belarus.
The final group standings are as follows: Canada – 12 points (four matches played), Sweden – 9 (4), Belarus – 6 (4), Switzerland – 3 (4), Latvia – 0 (4).
