Zimbabwe seeks to train specialists at Belarus’ Mother and Child center

MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) - Zimbabwe is interested in training its specialists at the National Research and Practical Center Mother and Child, President of the Senate of Zimbabwe Mabel Memory Chinomona told the media during a visit to the center on 20 February, BelTA has learned.

“We are impressed with the efforts the Belarusian government is making to care for its citizens. We were amazed by how much effort has been invested in this healthcare facility and that anyone can come here and receive help,” said Mabel Memory Chinomona.


The president of the Zimbabwean Senate noted that the Mother and Child center is important for the country, and the state understands this. “Our country needs something similar. It is right here that we see an opportunity for cooperation, both in personnel training and in any other form of collaboration, to build something similar in our country,” she added.

Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova confirmed that these issues were discussed during the visit to the Mother and Child center. The speaker noted that this center provides assistance, including to families who cannot have children, and does everything possible to bring them this happiness. They handle the most severe cases. Furthermore, it is a scientific center where new technologies and developments are implemented, which Belarus shares with foreign colleagues.


According to the speaker, the MPs from Zimbabwe were interested not only in assistance provided to families and women. They expressed interest in having specialists from Zimbabwe undergo training at the Mother and Child center. They also noted their readiness to host Belarusian medical professionals to provide practical assistance in treatment and the nursing of low-birth-weight infants. These matters will be addressed.


The visit of the Zimbabwean parliamentary delegation testifies to the implementation of the agreements reached during the Belarusian president’s visit to Zimbabwe in 2023 and the reciprocal visit of the president of Zimbabwe to Belarus in 2025, the chairperson of the Council of the Republic emphasized. A roadmap for strategic cooperation was signed, outlining activities for collaboration in various areas.


“Yesterday, the president instructed us to monitor the implementation of the activities laid out in the roadmap for cooperation with this country. We will do everything to ensure that the agreements reached at the highest level are fulfilled. So that it benefits our peoples and our countries,” Natalya Kochanova added.
