MINSK, 30 May (BelTA) - The legislative bodies of China and Belarus maintain close contacts and cooperation, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China Zhao Leji said during a meeting with Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova in Beijing on 29 May, BelTA has learned.
"The legislative bodies of China and Belarus have long maintained close contacts and cooperation, which is an important part of relations between the two countries. The friendship group between the two countries was transformed into a cooperation committee. This is an important step to realize the consensus reached by the two heads of state and to deepen the all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership," Zhao Leji said.
According to him, the National People's Congress is ready to develop cooperation with the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus. "We should unite and cooperate in multilateral organizations such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union, actively advocate for an equitable and orderly multipolar world and inclusive economic globalization, and protect the common interests of developing countries," Zhao Leji said.
"China is ready to work with Belarus to implement the initiatives of global development, global security and global civilization initiative, to practice genuine multilateralism, to protect international justice and promote peace and development in the world," Zhao Leji added.
